The Coastal Quartet will be play at the 11:00 am service on Sunday, May 12. It was founded in the summer of 2017 and originally started as the honors quartet for the Wilmington Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Coastal Quartet has performed all over Wilmington and surrounding counties, playing for organizations such as the Historic Society of Wilmington, Lower Cape Fear Hospice and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. They also perform weddings and have had the privilege of studying with numerous professional quartet such as the Jasper quartet, The Azuri quartet, and most recently, Pulitzer prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw. Caroline is the youngest winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Music in history. Her aunt is St. John’s parishioner, Elizabeth Ward. One of the members of the Coastal Quartet is Camden Stohl, Sue Stevenson’s granddaughter and Anne Stohl’s daughter.
